The Location -  The duplex is just 300m to the pristine and sparkling waters of Shoal Bay Beach and all the delights along the foreshore including a selection of cafes, restaurants and boutique shops There is a boat ramp, trailer parking, BBQ, picnic facilities, tennis court hire close by, bike hire, kayak and SUP in the warmer months and don't miss walking to the summit of Tomaree Mountain, which offers stunning views. Close by (2.5km's away) you have the lovely patrolled (Sep-Apr) surf beach of Fingal Bay, also offering a cafe and restaurant and children's playground. Nelson Bay CBD is 3.2km away, and offers boutique shopping, award winning restaurants, fishing co-op, specialty stores. 

The Duplex - Our property is built for a maximum 5 adults. With high ceilings, floor boards and down lights throughout, the air conditioned living area is situated on the upper level and offers a stylish leather lounge suite, 50 inch plasma TV, DVD player, free wi-fi, plus a variety of DVDs and board games for guests use.

There is a dining table with six chairs and sliding glass door access to a front covered balcony area with outdoor setting and gas BBQ. The functional kitchen comes fully equipped with a stainless steel fridge/freezer, oven, microwave, cooktop, dishwasher and plenty of bench space to prepare family meals. There is also a high chair for the baby of the family plus a child safety gate at the top of the stairs. The master bedroom is on the upper level and offers a queen size bed, a 42 inch TV, DVD player, ceiling fan and built in robe, with a bathroom offering a shower over the corner spa bath, vanity and toilet.

The tiled second bedroom is positioned on the ground floor and offers a queen size bed plus a king single bed, built-in robe and sliding door access to a fenced rear yard with covered patio. The third bedroom is air conditioned and ideal for the kids and comes with a bunk bed, a single trundle bed and a portacot. The downstairs bathroom is combined with the internal laundry and offers a glass shower, toilet, top loading washing machine and dryer.

Other features include a pet friendly rear yard with kennel, a fold up clothes line plus another outdoor setting and second gas BBQ. The property also offers internal access to the single lock-up garage and driveway which has enough space for a small trailer boat.

There are definitely smoke alarms at this property.

Please note - Personal linen is not provided at this property (sheets, towels and bath mat). Please contact our office if you would like to hire linen.

There are only allowed to be a MAX of 5 adults at this property at all times. The other 3 beds are children size.

    Only thing i would suggest is WIFI as the reception is not great on top of the hill. Also to tv is old and has no netfix or youtube. we had two days of rain and no TV to keep the kids entertained

    Starfish Lodge is in a great location,5 mins walk to the beach,shops and Restaurants at Shoal Bay.The scenery at Shoal Bay is amazing. The Shoal Bay Country Club has lovely food and amazing water views.A short drive finds you at nearby Nelson Bay with many restaurants to choose from. A favourite was Sienna Italian Restaurant and the Wharf Seafood Restaurant.The property needs new lounges, someone needs to clean the bbq and put gas in it, or don't offer a bbq at all as it was very dirty and smelly. The sliding door to the backyard was broken and the upstairs sliding door was on its way to the same fate. The property has some positives, it has a great layout, lots of space and comfortable. The thing that lets the property down is the backyard. It would benefit being re turfed. The backyard patio furniture is all old and broken. It would not cost much to fix the things that need attention. Once fixed, you would have yourself a 5 star property.

    There was a very off putting smell in the downstairs part of the accommodation. There were odd smells throughout, but my assumption is that the downstairs portion of the accommodation suffered from dampness issues. We are lucky there were only two of us staying and we did not have more guests that were required to use or sleep in the downstairs area.

    The townhouse has a great layout for 2 couples as there are queen sized beds upstairs and downstairs with their own bathrooms.
    The kitchen is modern and the backyard is dog proof, so you can leave your furry friends there and walk down for a swim.
    Shoal Bay is one of my favourite beaches in all of Australia and we were only a 4 minute walk to the sand.
    You're also within easy walking distance of restaurants and the excellent Game Fishing Club for dinner.
    Highly recommended.

    We came with three Kids and a dog for our annual Shoal Bay holidays - have stayed in many places, but when we bring the dog it's good to have a place with a garden. She is an outdoor dog, so it was just big enough to sit and play with her, with covered space to keep her dry if it rains.
    We liked the layout with the master bedroom upstairs and room for the teen kids downstairs - nice to have some glimpses of the water and beaches on the horizon - the overall layout was good with high ceilings and an open plan kitchen.
    The remote for the TV was missing the battery cover (not unusual) but it also didn't seem to change to HDMI for using the DVD player - we were able to change it on the back of the TV. There were an assortment of dishes and glasses for cooking and dining in - some of them were a bit cracked and worn so could probably se some new salad bowls, etc.
    Overall, the place is well presented and a good size for a family with a few kids.
    We had the linen service and stayed for 10 days, would book again.

    Great location.
    Layout of apartment was good as was bed configuration.
    Cleanliness of apartment on arrival was a huge let down. Bins had food on lids, spills on floor, shower/ bath had mould, kitchen draws had a lot of food crumbs in them & the between couch cushions was a lot of rubbish. There was also no batteries in any tv or aircon remotes- we had to go & buy some.
